Morning Session: Thiruvallur, Kakkalur, and Putlur
1. 6:30 AM - 9:30 AM: Sri Vaidhya Veeraraghava Perumal Temple & Sri Theertheswarar Temple
Start your morning at the famous Sri Veeraraghava Perumal Temple (and check the Temple Festival Calendar to align with key celebrations), the spiritual heart of the region. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his reclining posture, it is celebrated as one of the 108 Divya Desams. Devotees routinely perform the salt and jaggery ritual at the sacred Hrith-Thapa-Nasini Pushkarani (temple tank) to pray for health.
Directly adjacent to the Perumal temple, on the banks of the same pushkarani, visit the historic Sri Theertheswarar Swami Temple. This ancient Sivan temple houses a beautiful Swayambu Lingam and is a significant spiritual site representing the union of Shaivite and Vaishnavite devotion (Harihara) in Thiruvallur.
2. 9:45 AM - 11:00 AM: Sri Viswaroopa Panchamukha Anjaneyar Temple & Kakkalur Lake Walk
Located just 3 kilometers from Thiruvallur, this temple in Kakkalur houses a magnificent 40-foot green granite statue of five-faced Lord Hanuman (Panchamukha Anjaneyar). The five faces represent Hanuman, Hayagriva, Narasimha, Garuda, and Varaha.
After your darshan, head over to the nearby Kakkalur Lake Walk. Recently restored and developed by the Tamil Nadu government, this lakefront features a newly built walking path, benches, and landscaping, making it a peaceful, scenic spot for a morning stroll amidst nature.
3. 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM: Sri Siva Vishnu Temple (Poonga Nagar)
Next, visit the beautifully maintained Sri Siva Vishnu Temple in Poonga Nagar, Thiruvallur. Known for its cleanliness and peaceful atmosphere, this local temple features beautifully carved shrines dedicated to both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu under one roof, providing a serene environment for meditation.
4. 12:15 PM - 1:00 PM: Sri Angala Parameswari Temple (Putlur)
Drive 4 kilometers east to Putlur. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Angala Parameswari (Durga). The presiding deity is a natural, self-manifested (Swayambu) sand-termite hill that resembles a pregnant woman lying down in pain. It is visited by thousands of pilgrims praying for child boon and family welfare.
Midday Break: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Lunch & Rest

Afternoon Session: Tiruninravur and Thirupachur
5. 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM: Sri Bhaktavatsala Perumal Temple (Tiruninravur)
Head 15 kilometers east toward Chennai to reach the historic town of Tiruninravur. This is the second Vaishnavite Divya Desam temple on this tour, dedicated to Lord Bhaktavatsala Perumal and Goddess Ennai Petra Thayar. Built by the Pallavas in the 9th century and expanded by the Cholas, the temple has a beautiful, wide prakaram and a massive, towering Rajagopuram.
6. 4:45 PM - 5:45 PM: Sri Hrithayaleeswarar Temple (Tiruninravur)
Visit the nearby Hrithayaleeswarar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is associated with the Pallava-era saint Poosalar, who built a grand temple completely in his heart. Lord Shiva preferred Poosalar's mental temple over the king's physical temple in Kanchipuram, prompting the king to build this physical structure to honor the saint's pure devotion.
7. 6:15 PM - 7:15 PM: Sri Vaseeswarar Shiva Temple (Thirupachur)
Conclude your pilgrimage day at the ancient Thirupachur Vaseeswarar Temple, located 7 km west of Thiruvallur. This is a historic Paadal Petra Sthalam Shiva shrine dating back to the Chola period. It is famous for its Gajabrushta (apsidal) Vimana, the unique Vinayaka Sabhai housing 11 Ganesha idols, and a self-manifested Swayambu Lingam that bears the mark of bamboo branches.
Alternative & Extended Tour Options: Tiruttani & Thiruvalangadu

- Tiruttani Murugan Temple (40 km from Thiruvallur): One of the six sacred abodes (Arupadaiveedu) of Lord Murugan. Situated on a scenic hill, the temple is accessed via road or by climbing 365 stone steps representing the days of the year. It holds immense historical and spiritual significance.
- Thiruvalangadu Sri Vadaranyeswarar Temple (16 km from Thiruvallur): Celebrated as the Ratna Sabhai (Ruby Hall), one of the five cosmic dance halls of Lord Shiva. Here, Lord Shiva is believed to have performed the divine Oordhva Tandavam (cosmic dance). It is an architectural marvel with beautiful stone inscriptions dating back to the Pallava and Chola dynasties.
